5 TIPS FOR A SEASONAL WARDROBE SWAP

1- Equip yourself with the right tools

Invest in a sweater shaver or comb to keep your sweaters and knits in tip top shape all season long.  Pilling happens to even the nicest of cashmere, and a quick once over with the appropriate tool can revamp your fall/winter wardrobe in a matter of seconds!

2- Determine your prime real estate and storage needs

Every closet has a sweet spot between in-season storage, and off-season storage.  Keep everyday essentials within arms reach, and maximize the negative space that usually requires you to bend or get on a step-stool for everything else.  These stacking bins are great for storing summer clothing/accessories, and we love these shelf dividers for keeping your sweater or jean piles structured and organized. Where possible, keep storage locations to a minimum so items don't get forgotten about for the next season, and don’t forget to label! Our go-to label maker for all of our client projects is the P-Touch Cube.

3- Keep the swap to a minimum

Warm weather can linger through October, so it’s important to give yourself options as the season transitions.  Pull and store anything strictly summer from your closet (think beachwear, summer prints, straw hats, etc.), but hold onto any layering pieces that can be worn year round to build your look.

4- Don’t overlook your dresser drawers

We often skip straight to our closets when the weather starts to turn, but it’s important to give our drawers some much-needed TLC too! Edit anything worn or with a less than flattering fit.  This includes underwear, socks, shapewear, and bras.  We build our look with these key pieces, and they have a significant impact on how we feel in the morning, and throughout the day.  After a good edit, pay mind to what might need replacing (ie: everyday t-shirt bra or favorite cozy socks) and subdivide your drawers with expandable dividers or fabric bins to streamline your routines.

5- Get the air in!

Keep your closet doors open for a few days while you’re swapping out seasonal pieces.  Wipe down any shelves that may have gotten dusty, vacuum the floor, and incorporate lavender sachets or simply a bar of soap to freshen the space.
